Starting the trip

The destination for our summer trip this year is Wagrain in Austria. We had often talked about going to one of the winterlands during summertime and this time we found a good deal at the Grafenberg hotel in Wagrain.

We decided to make a stop at Hannover where we got a good night’s sleep in the suburb of the city. The next morning we got our supplies at the Aldi market next door and we were off on the autobahn again.

All the way from Denmark to Hannover we were faced with heavy rain. Needless to say we were hoping for better at our final destination. It followed us all the way through Germany and into Austria.

Mountain lake – Jägersee

One of the sights we were looking for would be one of the many beautiful mountain lakes, so we asked for direction at the hotel’s reception. We followed the directions which took us to Reitecksee, where we found a small bathing lake. Like everything else it was a lovely scene but not what we were looking for.

After a quick search we located the real mountain lake, Jägersee, only some 30 mins drive away. The lake is placed just next to the mountain sides and in dense forest.

The walk around the lake took us both through the river bed and in the forest. It was a really nice walk and with beautiful views of the lake. From here there is a trail to Tappenkarsee, another mountain lake which is only accessibile by foot. We have to see that next time we visit.
