Overseas Korean Camp day 2

HUFS campus

I woke up this morning without much sleep as I had turned off the aircondition as I feared of catching a bad cold, which resulted in me turning it on again as the heat was really uncomfortable. Luckily we were able to shield off the fan by putting up our towels on the railing to the loft where Laust and I slept. Anyway we goy up and made ourselves ready for our first full day in the camp. We arrived in the campus for the breakfast which were Korean sandwiches and a cup of yoghurt. Our class started at 9 o’clock and we would be split into separate classes for both adults and children as well as language levels. There were about 5-6 different classes.

Time for our first Korean lesson. In my class we were 8 students in total. The class was only in Korean and our teacher did really well in getting all of us to speak Korean. I was also joined by Mia and Rikke from Denmark. Our teacher 정경화 spend her holiday to join the camp for teaching us Korean instead of her normal job as a English teacher.

Laust and Ida-Marie’s classes were like this as well, and their teachers were also really good at encouraging them to talk Korean.

Snack time

After 1,5 hours were got our first break. Here different snacks were served and you should be quick to grab a bite as the children were fast to take what the liked.

We had our first lunch in a restaurant located just across the street from HUFS. Here we shared a table with Sook and we had a Japanese course.

Everywhere you turn your head you will be met by small figurines and the restaurant was no exception. At our table we were surrounded by characters from Chihiro and Mario Bros.

The Danish delegation

After a nice lunch we met up at the Cyper building before joining the next activity.

Here we should make our own name stamp by carving a seal. This experience was provided by an external team which brought a small set with everything we would need for the activity.

First we got an introduction, then we should design our own stamp. Step 1 was to draw a design on a piece of paper, then transfer it to the stamp. Once transferred we would start carving. Finally wrap it in a nice gift bag.

We had dinner in a Chinese restaurant after carving our name seals.

A night trip was planned to 동대문 (Dongdaemun). It took about 20-30 minutes to reach it where we had a couple of hours to browse the plaza. The first shop we visited was off course the Line Friends shop to get a picture with Mr. Brown. We walked around for a while and visited some of the malls before returning to the campus.

We would reach our dorm at about 10pm. Again with a full day of experiences. We would end the day with a few minutes to ourselves in our room before we would fall asleep to be ready for the next day.
